BIENVENUE TO A NEW YEAR TOUT LE MONDE!
The staff of Ecole Mill Bay would like to welcome you to a new school year. We look forward to working with you throughout this year. We are looking forward to getting to know new students, to introducing new staff and to embarking on a new adventure together.
Please note that due to the new bus schedule, school now ends at 2:50pm.
The information below describes the schedule of events for the first week of school.
We have organized and planned meaningful and purposeful activities for all children. Students will not be in their permanent classrooms until Friday morning. Teachers have planned many activities that will introduce and reinforce school wide programs such as the Virtues Program, the school’s code of conduct and social responsibilities. On Friday, students will go to their permanent classroom.
Our activities will connect to the curriculum (reading and writing, arts, physical fitness, music and social studies). Another purpose of these activities is to continue to establish a climate and culture that is safe and supportive of all learners and reconnect with friends and staff.
On the first day of school, Tuesday September 7th, school will start at the usual time of 8:50am. This will be a short day, and students will be dismissed at 11:50am. Please send a snack but do not send a lunch.
Students are to assemble on the asphalted area to meet teachers. Students will line up in the same line up as last year and spend the morning with their last year teacher and classmates. New students will meet with principal, Lise, in front of the school. She will introduce them to their teachers and classmates. There will be an assembly with all students and teachers at the end of the first day to explain procedures for the next two days.
Wednesday and Thursday
Students will line up in same line up as the first day. Teachers will take the students to their classroom of the previous year and take attendance. Grade 2-3-4-5 students will then be directed to different multi-age groups. Students will rotate through 4 stations during the day. Students will begin the day, eat lunch, and end the day with their peer group. All new students to the school will join their age & grade peer group after they have fully registered. The Grade One students will stay with the same classmates as last year. Madame Bri’s former students will be in the room 11 (former music room) and Madame Camilla’s former students will be in room 22 in the annex building. They will be involved with the same activities as the other students.
Students will be dismissed at 2:50pm from their classroom.
The new kindergarten students are not in attendance this first week as they will be participating in parent/teacher/child conferences as well as small group sessions.
Friday
Class lists will be posted outside the school by the covered area. Teachers will be introduced and will take their students to their permanent classrooms. We ask that everyone assemble on the side of the school. In case of rain, you will be directed to the gym.
We are very excited about the new school year. We continually do our best for your child to have a positive, fun and rewarding school experience. Please feel free to ask any questions of any and all staff.
School kits are $25. Please wait until Monday, Sept. 13th to send money or cheque payable to Ecole Mill Bay Elementary.
Sincèrement,
Lise Pagé-Principal (Directrice) and staff of Ecole Mill Bay
